Getting Started with Attro
Set up your first affiliate program in under 30 minutes. Learn organization setup, offer creation, and conversion tracking.

Welcome to Attro! This guide walks you through setting up your first affiliate program from scratch. By the end, you'll have a fully functional affiliate tracking system ready to drive growth for your SaaS.
Attro is designed for SaaS companies that want to leverage affiliate marketing without the complexity of enterprise solutions. Whether you're launching a new product or scaling an existing one, affiliate programs can significantly reduce your customer acquisition costs.

Create Your Organization
After signing up for Attro, your first step is creating an organization. Organizations are the top-level container for your affiliate program and can hold multiple projects (useful if you have multiple products).
Sign Up Process
- Visit get-attro.com and click "Get Started Free"
- Enter your email and create a password
- Verify your email address
- Complete the onboarding wizard
Organization Details
During setup, you'll provide:
- Organization Name - Your company name (e.g., "Acme Inc")
- Organization Slug - URL-friendly identifier (e.g., "acme-inc")
- Project Name - Your product name (e.g., "Acme Pro")
- Project Slug - Used in affiliate portal URLs
Tip: Choose slugs carefully - they'll appear in your affiliate portal URLs and tracking links. Keep them short and memorable.
Once created, you'll be taken to your admin dashboard at /[org-slug]/[project-slug]/admin.
Configure Your First Offer
Offers define what affiliates are promoting and how they're compensated. Each offer has a destination URL, commission structure, and tracking settings.
Creating an Offer
- Navigate to Admin → Offers
- Click "Create Offer"
- Fill in the offer details
Offer Settings
Basic Information:
- Name - Internal name for the offer (e.g., "Pro Plan Signup")
- URL - Where affiliate links redirect to (your landing page)
- Description - Optional description for affiliates
Commission Structure:
- Commission Type - Choose "Percentage" or "Fixed Amount"
- Commission Value - The rate (e.g., 20 for 20% or 50 for $50)
- Attribution Window - Days a click remains valid (default: 30)

Set Up Stripe Webhooks
Connecting Stripe enables automatic conversion tracking. When a customer completes a purchase, Attro receives a webhook event and automatically attributes the conversion to the correct affiliate.
Stripe Dashboard Setup
- Log into your Stripe Dashboard
- Navigate to Developers → Webhooks
- Click "Add endpoint"
- Enter your webhook URL
Your webhook URL is:

Subscribe to these events:
checkout.session.completedinvoice.paidcharge.succeeded
Copy Signing Secret
- After creating the endpoint, click on it
- Under "Signing secret", click "Reveal"
- Copy the secret (starts with whsec_)
- In Attro, go to Settings → Integrations → Stripe
- Paste the signing secret and save
Security Note: The signing secret ensures webhook events genuinely come from Stripe. Never share this secret publicly.

Invite Your First Affiliate
Now that your offer is configured, it's time to add affiliates. You can either create affiliates manually or let them sign up through your affiliate portal.
Option 1: Manual Creation
- Go to Admin → Affiliates
- Click "Add Affiliate"
- Enter their details
- They'll receive an email invitation
Required Information:
- Display Name
- Email Address
- Affiliate Type (External or Internal)
Option 2: Self-Service Signup
Share your affiliate signup link:

- Auto-Approve - Instantly activate new affiliates
- Manual Review - Require admin approval before activation
Affiliate Types
- External Affiliates - Influencers, bloggers, partners who receive monetary commissions via PayPal
- Internal Affiliates - Your own users who earn tokens/rewards for referrals
Generate Tracking Links
Each affiliate gets unique tracking links for every offer they're approved to promote. These links track clicks and attribute conversions.
How Tracking Links Work
- Affiliate shares their unique link
- Visitor clicks the link
- Attro records the click and sets a first-party cookie
- Visitor is redirected to your offer URL
- If they purchase within the attribution window, conversion is tracked
Link Format
https://get-attro.com/r/[unique-code]Each link has a unique 8-character code that identifies the affiliate and offer combination.
Creating Links (Admin)
- Go to Admin → Tracking Links
- Click "Create Link"
- Select the affiliate and offer
- Optionally set a custom destination URL
- Copy and share the generated link
Affiliate Portal
Affiliates can also generate their own links from the affiliate portal at:
https://get-attro.com/[org-slug]/[project-slug]/affiliateThey'll see all their approved offers and can copy tracking links with one click.
Test the Full Flow
Before going live, test the entire attribution flow to ensure everything is connected properly.
Testing Checklist
- Click a tracking link - Use an incognito window
- Verify redirect - Confirm you land on the correct offer URL
- Check for cookie - Look for rd_click_id in browser cookies
- Make a test purchase - Use Stripe test mode
- Verify conversion - Check the Conversions page in admin

Click not recorded:
- Ensure the tracking link is correct
- Check that cookies aren't blocked
- Verify the offer is active
Conversion not attributed:
- Confirm Stripe webhook is configured
- Check webhook logs in Stripe Dashboard
- Verify the signing secret matches
- Ensure attribution window hasn't expired
Review Your Dashboard
Your admin dashboard provides a real-time view of your affiliate program's performance.
Key Metrics
- Total Clicks - Number of tracking link clicks
- Conversions - Successful purchases attributed to affiliates
- Conversion Rate - Conversions ÷ Clicks
- Revenue - Total sales from affiliate traffic
- Commissions - Amount owed to affiliates
Conversion Statuses
- Pending - Awaiting approval or refund window
- Approved - Confirmed and commission calculated
- Rejected - Declined (fraud, refund, duplicate)
- Paid - Commission sent to affiliate
Filtering & Export
Use filters to analyze performance by:
- Date range
- Specific affiliate
- Offer
- Conversion status
Export data as CSV for custom analysis or accounting.
